3 Day Kayak Trips Itinerary
This is a 3 day kayak trip intended for beginners and intermediate paddlers interested in experiencing the scenic beauty of the 1000 Islands of the St. Lawrence River while learning basic kayak paddling skills and wilderness camping techniques. No previous camping or kayak experience is required.
The 1000 Islands is a North American archipelago of 1,864 islands that straddles the Canada–US border in the Saint Lawrence River as it emerges from the northeast corner of Lake Ontario. They stretch for about 80 km downstream from Kingston, easterly to near Butternut Bay, Ontario
A day by day itinerary is impractical to list here since we will have many islands and multiple possible routes and campsites at our disposal. Suffice it to say that we will spend the 3 days exploring this most incredible archipelago being governed by the group’s desires, ability and weather conditions.
We will be paddling single person kayaks (double kayaks are available upon request) to a designated Camping site on one of the 1000 Islands here we will make camp for 2 nights. Our certified Paddle Canada guides and instructors will be teaching you the necessary skills for safe and confident kayak travel while we explore the many beautiful islands and inlets of this incredible area. You will have the opportunity to achieve a Paddle Canada Basic Sea Kayaking Skills certification on this trip at no extra charge. By the end of the 3 days you will feel very comfortable and confident in a sea kayak.
The trip is all inclusive, meaning that you need bring only your clothes, personal items and a sleeping bag (these can be rented for you at reasonable rates if desired) and a complete suggested packing list will be provided upon booking.
The people are always interesting, the food is great and plentiful, the water is clear and warm and the area we will be in is very scenic and beautiful.
We travel with only the best light weight modern equipment with such amenities as outback ovens to bake fresh breads and goodies, comfortable two person tents, and even a large bug tent for your comfort should it be needed.
The food is fresh and plentiful, in fact most people comment that they eat better on our trips than they do at home!
There will be ample time each day to relax and explore the surrounding area, swim, fish or practice your paddling techniques that our Paddle Canada certified guides / instructors will be teaching you as we travel.
The trip starts at 9:30 am at the meeting point near Hwy 401 and Hwy 2 at Gananoque, Ontario and here ends at 3-4 pm on the last day.
